GL Reader — Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 August 2026

GL Reader is a document workspace for advocates, operated by GL Reader ("we", "us") of Building No. 55, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place, New Delhi 110001, India. This policy covers the GL Reader apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows.

The material you keep in GL Reader is often privileged. We treat case files, annotations and your questions about them as confidential professional material. We do not read them, we do not use them to train any AI model, and we do not sell or share them.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold and billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. They tell us only whether a subscription is valid and when it renews. We never receive your card number, billing address or bank details.

What we do not collect

The AI runs on our own hardware

When you ask a question about your documents, the relevant passages are processed by AI models we run on our own servers. Your documents are not sent to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or any other AI provider, and are never used to train a model — ours or anyone else's.

Where your data is stored

Your account, your projects, your annotations and everything you write are held in our database on servers we operate in India. The AI that answers questions about your documents also runs on our own hardware in India — your documents are not sent to any third-party AI provider.

One exception, stated plainly: the document files themselves are currently held in object storage located in Singapore. That is a transfer outside India, made under contract with our storage provider, and we are working to bring it into India. Everything else stays here.

Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, which processes your mobile number or email address on our instructions and may store it outside India.

Who else processes data for us

ProviderWhat they handle
Google FirebaseSign-in and session tokens
Contabo (Singapore)Storage of the document files you upload
Apple / Google PlaySubscription billing, if you subscribe

They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes. We use no others.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and your work while your account is open. Delete a document and it is removed from our live systems immediately and from storage within 30 days. Delete your account and everything goes within 30 days, and out of routine encrypted backups within 6 months.

Deleting your data and your account

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, because Apple and Google hold that against your store account, not ours. Cancel it in the App Store or Play Store.

Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Access is enforced per account on our servers, so one account cannot read another's documents, and document links are time-limited and signed. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you and the relevant authority promptly if a breach affects your data.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and other laws that may apply to you, you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, and to nominate someone to exercise these rights if you cannot. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or to your local authority.

Children

GL Reader is a professional tool for advocates and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app before any significant change takes effect.
